Making a professional safeguarding referral

Find out which option could help the person you're working with, depending on the situation

Refer someone for help with everyday tasks

If the person is not at risk right now, but may need some help with everyday tasks to make sure they stay safe in the future, refer them to social care.

This support is for people who need more help with things like:

  • keeping clean
  • staying safe in their home
  • going to the toilet
  • eating
  • travelling in the community
  • meeting people

If the person is experiencing urgent or crisis health conditions, contact urgent health care support by calling 999 and 111 (option 2) or inform their GP.
